(LINTON) - A Linton man learned Wednesday night he might have been able to run from police for a while, but what followed compounded his legal troubles.
Nick Schneider of Greene County Daily World reports police officers were trying to make a traffic stop for several traffic violations before the man wrecked his truck.
Linton Police Department officer Michael Watts attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 1994 Dodge Dakota pickup driven by 33-year-old Gary J. Hoesman at about 10:17 p.m.
When Watts activated his emergency red and blue lights to signal the stop, Hoesman is alleged to have accelerated and drove a short distance down a dead-end road and wrecked his truck on F Street SW near State Road 59S, according to an offense report released by the Linton Police Department.
After the wreck, Hoesman is alleged to have got out of his vehicle and ran on foot. He was soon apprehended by pursing LPD officers and placed under arrest.
Hoesman faces preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle - a class D felony; resisting law enforcement - a class A misdemeanor; and driving while suspended with a prior conviction - a class A misdemeanor.
He is being held in the Greene County Jail at Bloomfield on $6,000 bond.
Assisting with the case were LPD officers Tom Jerrells and Chad Crynes and reserve officer Kent Medlock.
