Last updated on Saturday, March 17, 2012

(UNDATED) Beginning, April 1, Hoosier Uplands Head State will be accepting applications for the 2012-2013 school year for the Bedford, Loogootee, Mitchell, Paoli and Salem Centers.

To be eligible for Head Start, the child must turn three or four years of age by August 1, 2012. The family must also meet the federal income guidelines.

Head Start's haf-day comprehensive school readiness program offers nutritious meals and snacks, educational opportunities and assistance with securing medical, dental and vision services and limited transportation to and from the Head Start Center.

In addition, full-day classes are available at the Bedford, Mitchell and Loogootee Centers to accommodate parents who are working, enrolled in college or GED classes.

All Head Start services are provided at no cost to those who qualify although families are asked to volunteer each month.

The number of enrollment slots are limited. Call the center in your area to explore the possibility of your child enrolling in Head Start.
