Dubois County Police Get New In-Car Computers

(DUBOIS COUNTY) - Dubois County Sheriff Donnie Lampert says the county's new implemented interact system is close to being in service.

The system networks all area law enforcement agencies with each other and utilizes laptop computers in all patrol cars and department vehicles.

County Commissioner Larry Vollmer says Law enforcement departments that spend a lot of time collecting data on a suspect or even a motorist who is pulled over for a traffic violation.

Now he says information including any outstanding warrants will be available to officers in the field immediately. Vollmer says the new system will be a valuable asset for the law enforcement.

The cost of the implementing the new system is approximately $120,000 but a grant for the system will lower the overall cost to around $112,000. The remaining balance will be split between the county and the city of Jasper.
