(BEDFORD) - David Holmes, superintendent of county highways, reported t the Lawrence County Commissioners, a substantial savings in the budget of snow removal and ice-melting materials.
"We purchased and spent $135,352 for the winter of 2010," Holmes said. "In 2011, it was $175,478. This year we had very little snow. We spent just $37,055. We had budgeted $100,000.
"So, we have more than $62,000 left in our salt and sand budget. I'd say we also have a third of what we're going to need for next winter on hand."
