(BLOOMINGTON) - A coroner has ruled that a Bloomington woman found dead in January after wandering away from her home died from drowning.
Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer says that the body of 57-year-old Diane Singleton had superficial injuries, possibly from a fall, but they were not serious enough to have contributed to her death.
Searchers found Singleton's body Jan. 23 partially in a shallow creek at the bottom of a hill about one mile from her home. Her body was found 14 hours after her husband reported her missing, prompting the issuance of a Silver Alert.
Meyer said Singleton had no drugs or alcohol in her system that would have impaired her judgment. She said she cannot determine whether Singleton's death was accidental, a homicide or suicide.
Bloomington police said they don't suspect foul play in Singleton's death.
