(COLUMBUS) - The Columbus City Council will consider an ordinance setting clear ethical standards for elected officials, city employees and city appointees.

The measure would be based on an Indianapolis policy that includes guidelines for accepting gifts, nepotism and use of city property as it relates to city business.

It also would protect city employees who blow the whistle on suspected ethics violations. Elected officials, employees and appointees would receive training on the rules.
