(BEDFORD) - Catholic Charities will be working in Southern Indiana to help rebuild communities destroyed by tornadoes.

Jane Crady, Archdiocesan disaster coordinator, has been to Henryville and the surrounding communities to assess damages.

Catholic Charity's roll will be to pick up the work after the first-responders pull out of the area. A large network of trained volunteers will provide material supplies, clean-up, re-building expertise, case management and mental health counseling.

A group plans to go Saturday to help with cleanup efforts.

To donate to Catholic Charities can be made at www.archindy.org.

The Presbyterian Church (USA) Disaster Response team was onsite in Henryville on Sunday. We have two PC(USA) churches in Henryville. One, Community PC, is across the street from the school campus, and it sustained significant damage, but did not collapse. The other, Mt. Lebanon PC, is outside of town and received minor damage. Both congregations were able to meet Sunday for worship together in the Mt. Lebanon Church. There were no deaths in either congregation, but there were some deaths of family members. Many members also lost homes.

The PDA Response Team is still assessing specific needs, but is accepting cash donations. If any would like to donate, please send your checks to us - First Presbyterian Church of Bedford - and mark "PDA - Henryville" on the memo line. There will be volunteer work teams formed in the near future. I will let you know when they let me know.
