Bedford Sgt. And Dispatcher Honored At Meeting

Last updated on Tuesday, March 20, 2012

(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Board of Works honored Bedford Police Detective Sgt. Brain Cartwright and BPD Dispatcher Jim McCreery.

BPD Chief Dennis Parsley says both men went above and beyond the call of duty.

Cartwright is credited for the capture of Cory Joel, who allegedly robbed Walgreens. Cartwright, while off duty, was in Bloomington and went to motel parking lots looking for Joel's vehicle. He found it and then contacted Bloomington police and Joel was arrested without incident.

McCreery is credited for the arrest of Gregory Tincher. Tincher provided a false name and social security number to BPD officers after being stopped for a traffic violation.

Because of McCreery's diligent work he discovered the social security number provided to police was one number off of a wanted man in Texas and in Orange County. Tincher was that man.

After police made a positive identification from motor bureau photos, 48-year- old Tincher was arrested for failing to appear in court and for parole violations in Texas.
