(BLOOMFIELD) - An August jury trial has been set for a Linton man charged with two counts of resisting law enforcement following a vehicle and foot pursuit earlier this month.
Gary J. Hoesman, 33, will stand trial in Greene Circuit Court at 9 a.m. on Aug. 7. A pre-trial conference is set for 8:30 a.m. on July 18.
Nick Schneider of the Greene County Daily World reports that at an initial hearing Hoesman was formally charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle - a class D felony; resisting law enforcement - a class A misdemeanor; and driving while suspended with a prior conviction - a class A misdemeanor.
Linton Police Department officer Michael Watts arrested Hoesman on March 14 after he attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Hoesman allegedly tried to evade the police officer after the emergency lights were activated on his cruiser.
Hoesman is alleged to have accelerated his 1994 Dodge Dakota and drove a short distance down a dead-end road and hit a mailbox and drove off of the road on F St. SW near State Road 59 South.
After the wreck, Hoesman is alleged to have got out of his vehicle and ran on foot. He was soon apprehended by pursing LPD officers and placed under arrest.
Hoesman was previously convicted of driving while suspended on June 29, 2006 and received a 10-year license suspension.
He was released from the Greene County Jail at Bloomfield after posting 10 percent of a $6,000 bond.
Assisting with the case were LPD officers Tom Jerrells and Chad Crynes and reserve officer Kent Medlock.
