(HELTONVILLE) - Two people were arrested at a home in Heltonville after fighting with police officers.

Lawrence County Police Sgt. Dave Flynn says police went to the home of 21-year-old Kayla Hughes to serve a Greene County arrest warrant for her brother 25-year- old Joseph "Joey" Grubb. Police received a tip that Joey was at the home.

When police knocked on the door, Kayla answered. Police asked if Grubb was at the home and she replied yes and then slammed the door shut.

Because Grubb was wanted on felony charges, police had probable cause and entered the home.

"Another brother Michael was in the living room with another female," Flynn said. "I heard a door slam and then Kayla came flying up the hallway and started fighting, punching and kicking. She was acting crazy."

Flynn was able to free himself from Kayla and handed her off to her brother Michael and told him to get her out of the house.

Flynn and officer Justin Shirley continued to search the home for Grubb. They found him under a bed in a back bedroom. They ordered Grubb out from under the bed and placed him in handcuffs.

At that time, Grubb began banging his head off the headboard of the bed and on the floor and screaming he was being abused by police.

As officers were walking back up the hallway with Grubb, to take him to the police cruiser, Kayla again attacked officers hitting and kicking at them. At that time she to was arrested.

Police charged Grubb with resisting arrest by force, and Kayla was charged with resisting arrest and battery on an officer.

Greene County Charges

A Greene County warrant for the arrest of "Joey" Grubb was issued Thursday charging him with possession of marijuana, criminal recklessness with a weapon, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of a scheduled controlled substance.

He will be held without bond on those charge.

Greene County Police say Grubb attacked Ben Sands and pointed and fired a loaded shotgun at him.

Sands told Greene County Sherrif deputies that he and a friend Brandon Tinsley went to Grubb's home about 1 a.m. on Jan. 30 to repay $10 he owed Grubb.

Sands alleged that after knocking on the door, Grubb's exited the house and attacked him with a shotgun, breaking his right arm. Grubb allegedly fired a 20-guarge shotgun in the direction of Sands' car and fired as Sands and Tinsley were leaving.

The shots broke out the rear window of the vehicle and left two gun shots in the vehicle.

On Feb. 1 police served a search warrant at Grubb's home and found several weapons, marijuana, prescription drugs and a variety of drug paraphernalia and items used to grow and distribute marijuana.

Greene County Police went to Kayla Hughes house in Heltonville Saturday night, with a search warrant, looking for weapons that Grubb allegedly had stole.

Their case is still under investigation.
