(BLOOMINGTON) - The family, of missing I.U. student Lauren Spierer, are expressing their disappointment with the university’s placement of information about their daughter on their website.
University officials said in a statement they decided to rotate a find Lauren link with other information on their home page of the website.
A newly designed find Lauren button and links will be featured the first week of each month on the home page. The staff designed two new Spierer button links in the hopes a fresh look will continue to draw attention to the case.
In the statement, the university says that the changes to the webpage in no way diminish the university's commitment to finding Lauren but rather are an attempt to balance the desire to support the family with the needs to provide important news and information to all its students via the campus website.
Spierer, a merchandising student from New York, went missing June 3 at the intersection of 11th Street and College Avenue. Information about Lauren's case is currently available on the Protect IU Public Safety and Institutional Assurance webpage, but it no longer is featured on the university's homepage, as it had been during the first several months of her disappearance.
The family says they are disappointed by the universities decision because they are hoping to find information from the IU community on the were about of their daughter. Robert Spierer says the family is not giving up and will do everything in their power to find their daughter.
