Medora Shows Off Donations From Benefactor

Last updated on Thursday, February 16, 2012

(MEDORA) - What has been described as “blessings” bestowed on this community’s school corporation by an anonymous benefactor a year ago may continue.

"There were no promises made," Superintendent Tom Judd told Medora Community Schools trustees Monday night during their meeting in the media center.

Judd said the benefactor's attorney visited the school earlier in the day and seemed pleased with how the corporation had spent the $30,000 donated by the benefactor in 2011.

That money was used to buy SMART Boards for selected classrooms as well as laptop computers for teachers and other technology.

Judd said the attorney was so impressed with what he saw that he gave Principal Brad McCammon $1,000 to be used for the purchase of Kindle tablets and additional software.

Students demonstrated the use of the SMART Boards to the attorney, and Judd and McCammon also talked about additional programs they planned to implement in the coming year.

Those include adding Spanish classes for elementary school children and establishing a drama program and separate band programs for high school and middle school musicians and a baseball program.
