Last updated on Friday, February 10, 2012

(BEDFORD) - 51-year-old David Morris, of English, was arrested for allegedly stealing scrap metal in Orange County and then trying to sell it at Goodman’s Recycling, north of Mitchell.

Morris was arrested on charges of possession of stolen property and being a habitual traffic violator.

According to Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig, police received at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday that a man was arguing with two other men at the scrap yard about stealing items from his Orange County property.

The two men fled in a pickup and the other man followed them in his vehicle, Craig said.

When police arrived, the men had parked the truck in a driveway on Old Ind. 60 West and fled on foot.

In addition to police officers, the sheriff's department sent its K9 team to the scene.

Police were able to catch Morris, but the other man escaped. The case is still under investigation.
