(UNDATED) - Soldiers with the Indiana National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 151st Infantry, have received their official mobilization orders for Afghanistan.

The 1st/151st, headquartered at the Jasper Armory, in Jasper will deploy in early July to Camp Atterbury near Edinburgh for several months of additional training.

The 1st/151st would head to Afghanistan in October in what is expected to be about a nine-month deployment.

There are about 675 soldiers in the 1st/151st which also has units in Tell City, Washington, Linton and Martinsville. About 100 will be deployed.

The battalion's primary mission will be to serve as security details for provincial reconstruction teams, which work to repair infrastructure in the country.

Troops from Evansville's 1st Battalion, 163rd Field Artillery and Terre Haute's 113th Forward Support Company will accompany the 1st/151st on this deployment.

The 1st/151st previously was deployed to Iraq in 2003 and in 2008.
