Indiana State Police To Investigate Tim Wolf Case

Last updated on Friday, February 17, 2012

(MARTINSVILLE) - Martinsville High School students have heard rumors of their basketball coach fraternizing with young girls.

But student Dakota Ezell says you can't believe every rumor, but now he's not so sure.

"I heard from my friends like rumors about him when I first came here when I was a freshman, but nothing serious like this," said Ezell. "It's not good."

Teacher and long-time boys' varsity basketball coach Tim Wolf was arrested in an Indianapolis park on Sunday for indecent exposure. Court documents say Wolf was partially naked in his car with his pants unzipped and a 17-year-old female was in the front seat.

Wolf turned in his resignation to the school on Monday.

Superintendent Ron Furniss say the schools do not condone what has happened. Furniss does not believe Wolf ever had any inappropriate relationships with other students.

However, some parents said they've tried to report concerns about Wolf to administrators on the school's anonymous tip line and got no response.

The school board met Thursday night in an executive session, before their regular meeting. That is when they accepted Wolf's resignation.

The Indiana State Police are investigating the case at the request of Morgan County Prosecutor Steve Sonnega, but are not commenting on the case.

Sonnega says he has reviewed the case and talked to school officials and decided it was appropriate that an outside agency investigate. Wolfe is scheduled to be in a Marion County court room for that indecent exposure charge Monday.
