(BROWNSTOWN) - A series of at least four explosions reported Sunday in the county seat were likely caused by someone setting off fireworks, police say. (TribTown)

"I don't know if they are legal in Indiana or not," Brownstown Officer Tom Wright said of the fireworks that caused quite a bit of noise.

Wright said one blast occurred in the middle of the day near Brownstown Public Library in the 100 block of East Spring Street.

"I was outside and heard it," said Wright, who lives on the south side of town and was off duty at the time.

A second explosion was reported in the area of the library again around 9 p.m., and two more were reported soon afterward, Wright said.

The third blast was reported in the 900 block of North Main Street while the fourth was reported near Brownstown Central High School in the 500 block of North Elm Street.

Wright said he checked all three locations after the explosions.

"There wasn't any damage," he said.

Wright said he was not able to talk to the people involved but was able to tell them to stop through talking with others who knew them.
