Bloomington Teens Arrested After Asking Police To Buy Alcohol

Last updated on Monday, February 27, 2012

(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana State Excise Police officers arrested three Bloomington High School North students on charges of underage drinking on Friday after they asked two plainclothes excise officers to buy liquor for them.

Just before 11 p.m., excise police officers were in the parking lot of the CVS in the 1400 block of Walnut Street issuing tickets for illegal possession of alcohol and possession of false identification when three teens approached them and asked if they would buy them alcohol.

Investigators said the teens offered the officers $20 to buy them a bottle of rum. The three teens, ages 16 and 17, had already been drinking and told police that they ran out of alcohol and needed more.

Police contacted the teens parents, who picked up the students at CVS.

All three teens face charges of illegal consumption of alcohol.
