(BLOOMINGTON) - 42-year-old Everett Dawson was arrested and charged with two counts of child molestation, according to Sgt. Steve Kellams.
The girl told family members on Feb. 7 that she and Dawson had engaged in two separate sexual activities. Her parents confronted Dawson that same night.
The family reported the incident on Feb. 8. Police found several voice mail messages left by Dawson as well saying he was in love with the girl. There were also other inappropriate messages left on the phone.
Dawson was arrested on Wednesday.
Dawson told police he had given the girl Valentine's Day gifts including underwear and love notes. He is currently being held in the Monroe County Correctional Center.
