(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington woman escaped from her ex-boyfriend just long enough to call police.

Police arrested 37-year-old Isaac Collins after he alleged chocked and hit his ex-girlfriend.

According to Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Steve Kellams, Collins and the woman had spent Monday together and stopped at several locations before they rented a room at the Motel 6 on North Walnut Street. They stayed in the room several hours and that is where Collins allegedly assaulted the woman.

Kellams says the couple had been arguing all day and that she got tired of it and decided to leave.

Collins then allegedly became upset and began hitting the woman. Police say the woman suffered bruises and scratches on her face and red marks around her neck. Kellams says the woman was scared and couldn't leave.

The two then left the motel for cigarettes at about 3 a.m. Tuesday and when Collins went back inside to get their room key the woman fled. She walked to a friend's house and called police. Kellams says the woman refused medical treatment.

Collins was arrested Tuesday night at the Scottish Inn Bloomington on South Franklin Road and was charged with criminal confinement, strangulation, intimidation and domestic battery.
