(BLOOMFIELD) - A 20-year-old Bloomfield man who allegedly pointed a loaded .20 gauge shotgun at four Greene County deputies will have a June jury trial.
Police entered a home at Lawrence Hollow to serve a search warrant on Tracy Taylor II when Taylor allegedly pointed the gun at police.
He will face charges of pointing a firearm at another person, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
At his initial hearing on Monday, the court appointed attorney James Riester to represent Taylor.
Police went to the home after they received a report from Ben Sand. Sand told police that Joey Grubb had shot at him and Brandon Tinsley, while they were at Grubb's home at Lawrence Hollow. Two other witnesses Crystal Smith and Misty Wiley told police Grubb had been shooting guns up in the air in the neighborhood and they were concerned someone was going to get hurt.Grubb lived with Taylor.
Police obtained a search warrant on Feb. 1 to search Grubb's home. When police went to the home no one would open the door, so they used a door ram to force open the front door. When they entered the front door, Taylor was standing there with a raised shotgun pointed at the officers.
Police ordered Taylor to put down the gun, which he did. Taylor told police he was sleeping on the couch and didn't hear them knock on the door prior to them ramming the door open.
He told police he thought someone he was having trouble with was breaking into the house.
Police found several other weapons, marijuana, prescription and legend drugs, as well as a variety of paraphernalia and items commonly used with the growing and distribution of marijuana.
Among the items confiscated were a loaded J.H. Higgins bolt action rifle with a scope, a 22.-caliber rifle with a scope and flashlight and laser light, two glass smoking pipes, rolling papers, several shotgun shells and rifle ammunition, an ash tray containing burnt marijuana cigarettes, 25 Mondalifil tablets, commonly used to treat narcolepsy, various other pills, two digital scales, four electric fans, two growing lights, a light reflector, potting soil and several whole marijuana leave.
Police believe a closet at the house was being used as an area to cultivate marijuana.
No charges have been filed against Grubb.
