Strikers And Indiana Limestone Managers Meet With Mediator Wednesday

Last updated on Monday, January 2, 2012

(OOLITIC) - Negotiators for sticking workers and managers at Indiana Limestone Co. will meet with a federal mediator Wednesday, hopefully putting an end to a strike that began Nov. 16.

Company officials have declined to comment on the strike. Millworkers say it is not about wages, but about proposed contract changes that would affect seniority rights, sick days, time off, tardy rules and pension plans.

About 50 millworkers are on strike. Other workers also are affected, as members of a stonecutters' union and a mechanics' union have been idled.
