Nashville School Grieves Death Of First Grader

Last updated on Monday, January 23, 2012

(NASHVILLE) - Van Buren Elementary School’s teachers and students are saddened by the death of Trevor Young.

In the hallway of the school, students and staff have been trying to come to grips the young boy's death.

6-year-old Trevor passed away last Monday at Riley Hospital after he had fallen in an icy pond behind his home.

His desk sits in the hallway of the school where students can stop and see a collage of snapshots of Trevor and art work the boy had created. A giant teddy bear is also there wearing Trevor's favorite Spiderman pants.

Terri Whitcomb, a counselor for the school, talked to classes last week to help students and staff come to terms with the tragedy.
