(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell woman died and two others were injured after the woman drove her car across the center line on Ind. 37 south, near Dillon Road Thursday night.
26-year-old Sheena Graves died of internal injuries at the scene according to a Lawrence County Police report.
Her passenger; 36-year-old Sam Gilbert, of Mitchell; told police they had just left McDonald's in Mitchell and were headed to the casino when Graves reached over to get some food.
That is when her 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier ran off the west side of the road. Graves over-corrected, which caused her to cross the center line and drive into the path of a 2001 Honda driven by 49-year-old Rosita Voorhies, of Mitchell.
Gilbert told police there was a doughnut tire on the left rear side of the vehicle and it made it difficult for Graves to steer the car.
Voorhies told police she tried to avoid the head-on collision but was unable to.
Gilbert complained of chest pain and was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Paoli. Voorhies complained of hip and stomach pain and was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Bedford.
