Medora Town Council Looking At Unpaid Sewer Bills

Last updated on Friday, January 13, 2012

(MEDORA) - Medora’s town council is taking a closer look at how to deal with renters who move without paying their sewer bills.

Steve Ingle, who maintains the town's water and sewer utilities and is also town marshal, said the town is losing money.

Most of the problems occur when renters move out of a property without notice and often in the middle of the night.

The council said one solution would be to place a lien for the utility bill on the property owner.

Clerk Treasurer Betty Campbell says the $150 deposit the town requires new customers to pay generally covers any unpaid water bills, but it is not enough to cover unpaid sewer bills.
