Linton Man Arrested After Threatening Damage With Chainsaw

Last updated on Monday, January 2, 2012

(LINTON) - 35-year-old Corie W. Jerrells, of Route 3, Linton, was arrested on charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon; resisting law enforcement; and disorderly conduct.

The case originated when Gloria Shields called police and said Jerrells was outside her home on County Road 150N with a chainsaw.

Linton Police Department officer Chad Crynes said Shields walked out of the house, followed by Jerrells when he arrived at the home.

Jerrells allegedly started to yell and became belligerent with police. Police said Jerrells' speech was slurred and Jerrells smelled of alcohol. Jerrells told police that he would fight them if they tried to arrest him.

When he started approaching police they drew their Taser weapons.

Jerrells then reached into the bed of his truck and grabbed a spare tire that was mounted on metal rim and held it above his head.

Police told Jerrells to drop the tire several times. He eventually complied and was placed in handcuffs and taken to jail.
