(MITCHELL) - Jeff Routh, a life-long resident of Mitchell, will be this year’s Persimmon Festival parade grand marshal.
Steve Dobson, this year's general chairman, says this year's Persimmon Festival theme is "Hometown Heritage" when it comes to celebrating Mitchell's past there is one person that comes to mind and that was Jeff.
Routh, he serves on one of a few authorities on Mitchell's history. He's served in various volunteer roles and capacities over the years and currently works as the president of the Mitchell Alumni Association and is a reporter for the Times-Mail.
Dobson says it was a no-brainer to have Jeff as grand marshal. This year's festival will be September 22 though 29th.
