Jackson County Sheriff Reports December Numbers

(JACKSON COUNTY) - Officers with Jackson County Sheriff’s Department investigated 272 calls about possible offenses and responded to 50 wrecks in December 2011, according to Sheriff Michael Carothers’ monthly report.

County officers served 22 Jackson Circuit Court warrants and 53 circuit court papers along with 309 papers and 20 warrants from the county's two superior courts. Officers also issued 13 citations and made 223 security checks.

The county's animal control officer responded to 22 calls about dogs.

Volunteer fire departments responded to 97 calls during the month, Jackson County Emergency Medical Service crews made 421 runs and dispatchers received 1,172 emergency 911 calls.

For the year, the sheriff's department received 3,418 calls about possible offenses and 14,869 emergency 911 calls. Officers also have investigated 407 wrecks, including one fatality and there were 1,346 fire runs and 5,438 ambulance runs.

Jackson County Jail produced $50,338 in revenue in December by housing prisoners sentenced to the Indiana Department of Correction, according to Sheriff Michael Carothers' monthly report.

For the month, an average of 46 DOC prisoners sentenced by county courts were housed at the jail daily. The average daily inmate count for the month was 193; the high inmate count was 200, and the low was 185.

For the year, the county has received $507,111 from the state for housing DOC prisoners. That total does not include $84,735 in pending bills for October and November.
