Income Tax Help Available At Libraries

(BEDFORD) - Volunteer Income Tax Assistance is offering free tax assistance sessions at the Bedford Public Library and Mitchell Community Public Library.

The VITA program is for low to moderate-income ($49,000 and below) people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. Only basic, individual current-year returns are eligible. VITA cannot complete taxes for businesses. Taxpayers must live in Lawrence County.

Sessions at the Bedford Public Library include the following dates:

* Jan. 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Jan. 24 from 4-7 p.m.

* Feb. 7 (11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), Feb. 11 (9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.), Feb. 18 (9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and Feb. 21 (4-7 p.m.)

* March 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and March 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sessions at the MCPL will be offered Jan. 28, Feb. 9, 16, and 25; and March 10 and 15. The MCPL gives preference to Lawrence County residents, but will register people from outside the county as space permits. To schedule an appointment, call 849-2412.
