(UNDATED) - Multiple accidents were reported Friday night and Saturday in Lawrence county and the surrounding area.
Bridges were coated in a solid sheet of ice and widespread accidents kept police busy. As a result, the police were asking residents to stay off the roads. No serious injuries were reported, but the chain of collisions, slide-offs and fender benders kept local law and rescue workers out in the treacherous conditions.
An accident on Ind. 37, near Arby's, left some injured and shut down the highway for some time. An accident on Ind. 60, near Spring Mill State Park, also caused some injuries, but none of those injuries were serious.

There were also reports of power outages, but power was restored quickly thereafter.
A Lawrence County highway truck slid off Back Creek Road and tipped on its side at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The driver, 58-year-old Thomas Moore, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
On Friday, cars and walkways were rapidly sheathed in ice. Area emergency room personnel treated between 40 to 50 people who fell on ice covered parking lots and walkways. Most people suffered head, back and shoulder injuries.
Highway, county and city road crews were out around the clock trying to keep roadways clear. Sunday issued in warmer weather, melting most of the ice, but with the warmer temperatures came the threat of thunderstorms, flooding and high winds.
