Boy In Critical Condition After Falling In Ice-Covered Pond

(NASHVILLE) - The Indiana Conservation Dive Team pulled a 6-year-old boy from an ice-covered pond in Brown County Sunday.

The Brown County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call from a private residence reporting the boy had fallen through the ice in a pond at Spiker Cemetery Road and Valley Branch Road in Nashville.

First responders attempted to locate the child, but were unsuccessful. Indiana Conservation Officer divers recovered the child under the ice at 3:45 p.m.

The boy was transported by ambulance to the Columbus Regional Hospital. The child, who was under the ice for more than an hour, was then flown by Helicopter to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. He is listed in critical condition this morning.

Assisting at the scene were the Brown County Sheriff's Dept, Nashville Police Dept., Nashville Volunteer Fire Dept., Van Buren Volunteer Fire Dept., Hamblen Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. and Sweetwater Volunteer Fire Dept.
