Bloomington Mayor Reconsidering Support For Occupy Protesters

Last updated on Tuesday, January 3, 2012

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington’s mayor says he’s reconsidering whether to support allowing Occupy protesters to stay at a downtown city park after three people were arrested and three police officers hurt during a weekend march.

Police say three men were arrested about 1 a.m. Sunday among a crowd of about 50 people. Bloomington police Lt. Faron Lake says 1 of the men threw a bottle at a second-floor window and stepped on a squad car's hood.

Lake says another man scuffled with officers who were trying to disperse the crowd. Three officers reported being hurt, including one who required medical attention for hand and wrist injuries.

Mayor Mark Kruzan said he expected the protesters camping at Peoples Park to remain peaceful and respect other people's property.
