AT&T Not Responding To Line Problems

Last updated on Wednesday, January 18, 2012

(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig told the Lawrence County Commissioners he is having difficulties with AT&T responding to downed service lines.

Craig says when officers report a downed line, it is taking the company 3 to 4 hours to respond, and that is unacceptable. He added if the lines are down over roadways, it really causes a problem, because an officer or volunteer firefighter must stay at the scene for safety reasons, until the issue can be resolved.

Emergency Management Director told the commissioner she would make calls to see if she could get the issue resolved.

Luchauer says the county is also having trouble with AT&T. When the highway department reports a tree is ready to fall into their line, officials will not respond. County employees can not take care of the problem because they must notify the owners of the lines. AT&T says to call them when the tree falls and the lines are down and then they will respond.
