Veterans At VA Hospital To Receive Donations

Last updated on Wednesday, December 7, 2011

(BEDFORD) - County Veterans Officer Bill Baker reported to the Lawrence County Commissioners Tuesday morning that veterans at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis will have a great Christmas thanks to the support of the Naval Support Activity Crane and its employees and residents of Lawrence County.

Baker is overwhelmed with the communities support.

Donations totaling more than $10,000 were gathered at the base and through local donations. The donated items of toiletries, clothing, and house slippers will be taken to the VA hospital on Dec. 22.

Baker is still accepting donations and accepts donations all year. Baker said the need doesn't stop after Christmas. The items will be delivered to the hospital and the staff then distributes the items to the veterans.
