Last updated on Thursday, December 8, 2011

(BLOOMFIELD) - A rural Sullivan woman is facing a felony neglect of a dependent charge after her recent arrest by Linton Police Department for drunk driving with her 1-year-old grandchild in the vehicle.

Leslie Lynn Clayton, 47, who lives on County Road 500N, Sullivan, was stopped by LPD officer Michael Watts at 9:50 p.m. on Dec. 2 at State Road 54 and 12 Street NE for a headlight equipment violation.

Officer Watts noted in his probable cause affidavit that when he approached Clayton's 2004 Chrysler, the odor of alcoholic beverage was evident. She staggered from her vehicle, according to Watts. Clayton tested three times the legal limit for intoxication.

She faces three criminal counts. Besides the charge of neglect of dependent, which is a class D felony, Clayton has a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a class C misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 percent or more, a class A misdemeanor.

Clayton posted $400 cash on a $4,000 bond and was released from jail.

She's scheduled for an initial hearing in Greene Superior Court at 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 16.
