Several People Injured In Crashes In Lawrence County

(UNDATED) - Lawrence County Police investigated several accidents over the weekend. Several people were injured in the crashes.

Three people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Friday evening near Bedford North Lawrence High School, according at Lawrence County Police Department accident report.

The accident happened when Jacqueline Shadday, 40, North Vernon, driving her vehicle from Miami Drive onto Boyd Lane entered the path of a vehicle being driven by Tiane Breedlove, 48, 52 Riverview Addition.

Breedlove wasn't able to avoid the crash, according to the report. The collision crashed Shadday's 2005 Ford into a third vehicle being driven by Dawnna Mann, 47, Bedford.
Shadday was taken by ambulance to a Bedford hospital for treatment of neck pain. Blood tests are pending to determine if she was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Mann and her passenger, Miranda Mann, 20, 4111 Ind. 450, also, were taken to a Bedford hospital by ambulance for treatment of head pain.

Near Needmore, an 85-year-old man suffered injuries when his pickup truck rolled over him Saturday morning as he tried to push it off old Ind. 37, according to a Lawrence County Police Department accident report.

Charles W. Farrell, 904 Judah-Logan Road, told police that his 1990 Ford F15 had run out of gasoline near the Needmore dumpster site on old Ind. 37.

As the man was trying to push the pickup out of the roadway, he lost his balance, was knocked to the ground and then the pickup rolled over him, according to the report. The accident happened at 10:46 a.m.

Police reported, Farrell was taken to a location near Ind. 37 by an ambulance and then was taken by a LifeLine helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital.
His condition wasn't available.

Near Springville, a Bedford woman was injured in a crash on Ind. 54 Saturday morning, according to a Lawrence County Police Department accident report.

At 10:41 a.m., Kathy J. Hatchett, 40, 1312 K St., was eastbound near Grace Lane when her car went off the road's shoulder into the ditch and hit a road sign, police reported.

According to police, Hatchett appeared to be impaired. She was taken by an Indiana University Health ambulance to a Bedford hospital for treatment to her shoulder which was injured.

Near Mitchell, a Mitchell man was injured Saturday afternoon when he became disoriented and crashed his 1986 Pontiac in a ditch.

51-year-old Gary Collier, was traveling east on Ind. 60 west near the intersection of Old Ind. 60 west when he felt a numbness in his arm and became disoriented. His car went into the westbound lane, crossed back over into the eastbound lane and drove off the south side of the road into a ditch near the culvert.

He was taken to a local hospital with neck pain.
