Linton Police Release Results Of Enforcement Blitz

Last updated on Friday, December 9, 2011

(LINTON) - Linton Police Department has announced results of its recent “Safe Family Travel” enforcement blitz, saying that 61 seat belt citations and one alcohol-related arrest were made during the two-week effort.

LPD joined nearly 250 other Indiana law enforcement agencies to conduct the "Safe Family Travel" blitz Nov. 11-27.

Using high visibility enforcement activities such as sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols, police aggressively targeted impaired and unrestrained drivers on Linton roadways.

"Hopefully this enforcement put drivers on notice that when it comes to safety on the road, there are no excuses, LPD Chief Troy Jerrell commented. "I think a number of citations and arrests were made during the blitz is a confirmation that we are serious about keeping roadways safe in Linton."

In all, LPD officers logged 36 hours of overtime towards this annual enforcement effort. There were three arrests made during the blitz period, most of which were for driving offenses. Citations were also issued for child restraint, license and equipment violations.
