(LOOGOOTEE) - The former Perfect Fit textile plant in Loogootee has been purchased by the non-profit group Knox County Association for Retarded Citizens.
The announcement was made yesterday at the now-vacant Loogootee plant. Perfect Fit shut down about a year ago putting nearly 100 employees out of work.
KCARC Executive Director Mike Carney is not disclosing what the plans are for the plant or when it will re-open, but he does say there is something on the burner.
KCARD does do a lot of work for various government agencies including the U.S. military.
Founded in 1972, KCARC has earned a national reputation as an innovator and leader in the training and care of people with disabilities while putting many to work in one of the organizations five manufacturing facilities in southwest Indiana.
The plants give those with disabilities the opportunity to work side-by-side with individuals without disabilities to create valuable products for business, industry and home consumption.
