Beware Of Coyotes, Says State NDR

Last updated on Thursday, December 15, 2011

(UNDATED) - As the weather gets colder, coyotes may be lurking around your house looking for a meal.

Coyotes have become accustomed to urban environments and Phil Bloom with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, says they will be mostly seen at dawn or dusk.

He says they primarily feed on small mammals even when they get into an urban setting.

Bloom advises people to not leave pet food outside and to not throw out edible garbage. He says if you see a coyote, stay at a safe distance and make loud noises to try and scare them away.
