Two Arrested On Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

Last updated on Wednesday, November 9, 2011

(LINTON) - Two Linton residents were arrested early Saturday morning on drug charges after a traffic stop for a burned out license plate light.

22-year-old Zachery L. Goodson, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with a firearm. 38-year-old Holly Baker was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine. Baker was also in possession of a handgun, but no charges were immediately filed. No bond has been set for either suspect, pending a court appearance.

Linton Police Officer Brock Garrison said he passed a small truck that was traveling north on County Road 1100 West about 12:06 a.m. on Saturday and noticed it did not have a license plate light. Garrison turned around and followed the vehicle for about three miles.

The truck was traveling at an unusually slow rate of speed, Garrison says. He stopped the truck on County Road 1100 West just south of County Road 700 North. Police say one of the passengers was a female juvenile. The juvenile was released to her grandmother.

Garrison asked to search the vehicle and found a small black pouch that contained three hypodermic needles and a spoon. The spoon later tested positive for methamphetamine.

Goodson was arrested and he told police there was a .380-caliber handgun in the vehicle.

Baker also gave police permission to search her purse, where they found a plastic baggie corner that contained a white powdery substance that later tested positive as methamphetamine. She also had an uncapped hypodermic needle in the purse.
