(MARTINSVILLE) - The Martinsville School District is being taken to court again over a shooting. 15-year-old Chance Jackson was shot in the stomach at Martinsville West Middle School in March.
16-year-old Michael Phelps was convicted of attempted murder.
Jackson's mother is suing the Martinsville School District, and now the family of a 14-year-old boy who was standing next to Chance when he was shot has also filed a lawsuit, saying the teen has suffered emotional trauma.
The family claims the school did not have enough staff on duty at the time of the incident.
