Shoals Man Dies After Firearm Discharges

(SHOALS) - Indiana Conservation Officers and the Martin County Coroner are investigating a firearm death involving 64-year-old Steve R. Kelsey, of Shoals.

Kelsey was hunting small game near his home Friday, when it appears his firearm accidentally discharged and he was shot, according to officials.

His body was discovered early Saturday by family members. Police believe Kelsey had been hunting near his home on Friday and in the process of placing his shotgun into a golf cart he was using for transportation the firearm discharging hitting Kelsey in the chest.

Final results of the investigation are pending the coroner's office report and a function test of the firearm involved.
