(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Deputy Prosecutor Tim Sledd presented numerous items of evidence collected at the home of Kenneth Tipton.
Bedford Police Detective Capt. Brandon Woodward testified about each item including several firearms.
Tipton's attorney, Scott Callahan, objected to almost every item of evidence saying that Woodward was not a ballistic specialist or that he did not gather the evidence. He says that former BPD detective Danny Atchison had gathered the evidence. Judge William Sleva overruled the objections and allowed the evidence and Woodward's testimony. Callahan also objected because there was no proof the weapons were ever fired.
Tipton is charged with attempted murder, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and dealing marijuana. He is being represented by .
Tipton is accused of firing a long rifle at police on Aug. 16, 2009, when they went to Tipton's home at 2418 J St. to arrest him for battering his wife.
Tipton allegedly fired numerous shots at police, damaging police cruisers and neighbor's homes.
He finally surrendered after police produced a fabricated letter guaranteeing Tipton would be only prosecuted for recklessness.
