Odon Man Faces Drug Charges

Last updated on Wednesday, November 2, 2011

(BLOOMFIELD) - 19-year-old, James D. Raber, of Odon, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Schedule 2 controlled substance, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, in Greene County Circuit Court Tuesday morning.

Raber asked for a public defender, but was denied one by Judge Erik Allen. The judge noted that Raber has a construction job and lives at home with his parents.

Raber was arrested Friday after Worthington town marshals stopped the car he was riding in for failing to stop at a stop sign at Jefferson and Main streets.

Police received permission to search the car and found a Hydrocodone pill and a baggie of marijuana in the center console. They also found short clear drinking straws that had drug residue on them in addition to a baggie that contained white residue that tested positive for methamphetamine. Police also found a large glass smoking device in the truck that had marijuana residue on it. Raber told police the items belonged to him and not the driver Lucas Cunningham, of Elnora. Cunningham was cited for failure to wear a seat belt during the traffic stop.

Raber told police he had smoke marijuana about four hours prior to the traffic stop and that he had used methamphetamine the previous night.
