(SILVERVILLE) - A new gravestone for Revolutionary War soldier Henry Waggoner Jr., a private in Doak’s Company of the Virginia Militia, will be dedicated at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Waggoner Cemetery near Silverville.

Waggoner fought in several Revolutionary War battles and was wounded at Germantown.
After the war, his family moved west to Indiana, settling on the banks of Indian Creek near Silverville.

Waggoner is the ancestor of Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig, Bedford Fire Chief Jon Wagner and North Lawrence Community Schools Assistant Superintendent Gary Conner.

To get to the cemetery, take Ind. 158 west from 16th Street for about nine miles to Silverville. Turn right onto Boone Hollow Road and go approximately 100 yards to the top of the hill. The cemetery is on the left.
