Memorial Service For Homeless Man Who Died At Occupy Bloomington

Last updated on Monday, November 14, 2011

(BLOOMINGTON) - A memorial service for Don Swank will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Woodcock’s Genesis Church, located at 45/46 Bypass.

The service, organized by the Genesis House Summer Shelter and Shalom Community Center, will honor the life of the 52-year-old Swank, who died from natural causes last weekend while seeking shelter inside a tent at the Occupy Bloomington protest in Peoples Park.

Swank was homeless, and a frequent visitor at the Shalom Center and Genesis House Summer Shelter.

During the service some of Don's homeless friends will talk about him. Woodcock says his church bus will pick up many of Swanks' friends and bring them to the service.
