(MARTINSVILLE) - A 12-year-old Martinsville boy convicted of reckless homicide in the shooting death of his 6-year-old brother has been sentenced to an Indianapolis children's home.

Morgan Superior Court Judge Christopher Burnham ordered the boy placed at the Children's Bureau on Monday.

The judge determined the Children's Bureau met the safety and best interests of the child and the least restrictive setting available close to his parents' home. Martinsville is about 30 miles southwest of Indianapolis.

Burnham found the boy guilty in September of a juvenile charge of reckless homicide but acquitted him of murder in the June 30 shooting of his 6-year-old brother at the family's Martinsville home.
