(BLOOMINGTON) - Attorneys for the Indiana University senior who is believed to be the last person to see Lauren Spierer before she went missing in June are defending his cooperation in the case.
In a statement released Tuesday, Jason "Jay" Rosenbaum's attorneys stressed that their client has cooperated fully, despite "completely inaccurate" statements to the contrary.
Rosenbaum's attorneys say he has provided full statements to police, allowed his apartment to be searched, agreed to give a DNA sample and continued to cooperate with authorities "upon learning or remembering additional information."
According to the statement, Rosenbaum submitted to a polygraph and shared the results with authorities. He also met with Spierer's parents, Rob and Charlene Spierer, their attorney and private investigators hired by the family.
Rosenbaum adamantly denies any involvement in Lauren's disappearance. He says that he wants Lauren to be found and for the ordeal to be over with. Nothing specific about the information he shared with police will be released so as not jeopardize the case.
Rosenbaum told police he last saw 20-year-old Lauren the early morning hours of June 3 walking toward her Smallwood Plaza apartment after a night of partying with friends.
