(BLOOMINGTON) - Bo Dietl, the New York private investigator hired by the parents of missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer, has been granted permission to do his investigative work in the state of Indiana - on a probationary basis.
Formerly Dietl had not been licensed to work in the state. On Thursday he was granted license for a minimum of one year.
Robert and Charlene Spierer hired Dietl's firm to assist in the search for their missing daughter Lauren. The 20-year-old IU student was reportedly last seen about 4:30 a.m. June 3 at the intersection of 11th Street and College Avenue, walking home alone toward Smallwood Plaza after a night of partying at Kilroy's Sports Bar and a few downtown apartments.
Police and volunteer searches this summer have turned up no clues as to what happened to her. Neither did a search at a Vigo County landfill where Bloomington trash is dumped.
Dietl came under fire in September when the private eye and media personality called Bloomington's police Chief Mike Diekhoff a "Gomer Pyle" in a television interview with "Good Day New York." The Spierers expressed their displeasure of Dietl's statements at the time.
