Clendel Williams Writes Second Book

Last updated on Tuesday, November 8, 2011

(CAMPBELLSBURG) - Clendel Williams, of Campbellsburg, published his first book, “Blue Echo Memories,” in 2005 - a series of short stories about growing up in Washington County.

Now Williams, who is in his late 80s, has completed his second book, this one titled "Echoes of Freedom" - relating stories, some humorous and others serious, about the times and living conditions present on the home front during World War II

"The military had rejected me, as I was 30 pounds underweight caused by an open skull fracture which occurred at age 15," Williams explained. "But I am thankful that I was able to aid the war effort while making something worthwhile out of my life."

"Echoes of Freedom" is dedicated to the memory of the men who fought on D-Day, to whom we owe our freedom "When freedom had to be fought for or abandoned, they fought" and to his late wife, Edna Satkamp Williams, who died in 2007. They had been married 62 years.

Copies of "Echoes of Freedom" are available at $15 each, plus $5 mailing fee for the first copy and $1 for additional copies. Contact Clendel Williams by mail at 5651 N. White River Road, Campbellsburg, IN 47108-6023, or by calling (812) 755-4776.
