(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington business owners unhappy with behaviors in People's Park where an Occupy Wall Street protest is taking place are asking Bloomington leaders to help ensure that drug and alcohol use are controlled and proper sanitation is observed.

Bicycle Garage manager Fred Rose says that open fires and intoxicated protesters are intimidating some customers. Rose says he's found human waste in his recycling bins and says there's a difference between the protesters and the homeless who have taken up residence in the camp at Peoples Park.

Protest supporters say their presence has improved the plight of the homeless by offering food, shelter and compassion to many who have frequented the park for years.
